National Disability Insurance Scheme

If you hold a plan from the National Disability Insurance Agency, My Psychology Tasmania can offer one-to-one support.

Private Health Funds

If you are not eligible for Medicare rebates, you may still be able to claim for psychological services from your Private Health Fund with the right level of cover. We encourage you to check with your fund before your first visit to see if you are eligible for a private rebate on psychology services.

Shorter wait times and extended number of sessions

As provisional psychologists see fewer clients, they tend to have shorter wait times. Referrals are reviewed weekly by our team and are accepted when there is capacity. If you have a mental health care plan you won’t be using up your limited subsidised sessions.

They spend more time on each client

Compared to senior psychologists, provisional psychologists don’t see as many clients each day. They have more time to consider their formulation, planning and implementation of intervention strategies, engagement with supervisors or peers, and time to reflect, allowing for more thorough assessment and treatment of presenting difficulties.

They receive lots of supervision

Our provisional psychologists have access to a team which prioritises their development. Provisional psychologists attend frequent supervision with an AHPRA approved supervisor. They also seek support and guidance from their fellow psychologists who hold a broad range of expertise and training. This means that their clients are drawing on the resources of numerous psychologists, not just one.

Our Provisional Psychologists have completed at least 5 years of training

Provisional psychologists have completed at least 5 years of training. They are working towards obtaining their general registration as psychologist and are in the stage of their career where they are honing their knowledge and skills into practice with the guidance of senior psychologists.

Current knowledge

Provisional psychologists have completed the most up-to-date university training available to them. They have had exposure to the latest research and treatment approaches, as well as sharing of new and innovating resources with other practitioners.

Passionate about therapy

Provisional psychologists are heavily invested in their own development. Every week they are actively acquiring knowledge about evidence-based psychological assessment, approaches, and strategies which are tailored to meet individual client needs.

If you or a loved one are looking for mental health support why not seek the support of one of our provisional psychologist.
